Waste matter is thoroughly treated before it is discharged into the sea.

Oil tankers do not discharge their deballast water into the sea. It is rather stored in 2 tanks with a  volume of 25 000 m3 and subsequently treated.

Smoke is dispersed into the upper atmosphere by two chimneys measuring 92 metres and 54 metres.

Toxic gases are burnt by a 60-metre high gas flare.
